KILLED ON THE RAILWAY.
FATALITY AT TRENTHAM
Wellington, March 3. A fatal accident occurred on the railway line in the vicinity of the Trentham Camp at a late hour last night. Tho last train from Wellington left liho Lainibton Station at II o'clock, and was dnvwing -i"^ o . tue Trentham Station about midnight, when Privato Thos. Wallace, of E Company, 10th Reinforcements, fell oil the platform of one of the carriages and was run over, death being instantaneous. The guard felt the train bumping over some object and signalled to the engine-driver, who put on the brakes and promptly brought tho locomotive to a standstill. A search along the line revealed Wallace's body. The deceased, who wa.s 25 years of age, and unmarried,, belonged to the West Coast, where he had worked as a miner. Before he enlisted he was employed -at Arthur's Pass by the Public Works Department.
