AUCKLAND OBJECTIONS
Auckland, March 3. The Mayor telegraphed to Major Francis that a deputation of returned soldiers had protested against the armlet badges being issued, adding that there was a distinct objection by the men to wear them, and enquiring if something more suitable cannot be issued. The armlet, the Mayor says, is of such a class that ho can understand the objection raised. Major Francis replied that he had referred the matter to Goneral Robin, but -a„ 'tlbe badges had been decided upon by tho Recruiting Board after duo consideration, he feared alteration was impossible. He added that the badges were very similar to tho English armlets.
