AUCKLAND REGATTA
YACHT SUNK IN COLLISION.
Auckland, January 29. Tiie Auckland regatta opened under unfavourable conditions, with strong winds, a high sea, and rain. When manoeuvring for the start of the raul-let-boat race, tho yachts Venus and Mowai collided, and the latter sank. Several of the crew scrambled aboard the Venus, aud others jumped into tho water and swam to the same craft.
