The. Army 'Medical .Corps report shocking injuries owing to the German contrivance of spraying ■petrol into the. trenches. The features of the wounded are horribly-'disjigured, limbs swollen, and uniforms burnt off. The French suddenly found jets of petrol falling into the trenches. Their officers ordered pipes to bo put out," but this was fruitless. The Germans threw hand grenades into the trenches, which were soon ablaze.
