Mr Hocklj- went very fully into the history of the road and the; work done thereon, and characterised the action of the Council as both unfair and unjust. He strongly urged that the whole matter should be reconsitlored and be dealt with on a better basis. He suggested that the settlers should be asked to consent to tlie raising of a loan for part of tho cost, and the balance be paid out of a rate'levied over the whole county. Air E. Short supported the view taken by Air Hockly, and emphasised the injustice of the motion passed at last meeting. Mr F.
