Lloyd-George for what they describe as his " Slimehouse" speeeli on tlie second readin gof the Welsh Disestablishment Bill: The papers point out his ignorance of history in Ins assaults on the rich aristocracy (see page 4). It has nothing to do with transferring property -from tlie active Welsh Church to the County Councils. His argument that the Church property prior to the Reformation belonged to the Romanist Church, the papers say, is answered by Premier Asquith's contention that tlie Protectant Church has a legal continuance. Some of the Nonconformist Liberals have informed their Whips that, though tjhey voted for the Disestablishment Bill, they are opposed to its disendowment clauses ? particularly "to the allocation of religious money to specific secular purposes
