FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB

THE EASTER MEETING

For the Easter meeting of the Feilding Jockey Club, there is a larger entry than usual of first-class 'horseflesh. The local stablekeepers have had their premises taxed to their gratest capacity to accommodate the Qiorses that have come to race at the meeting, and a-aEway station hands have been particularly busy all this Aveek unshipping the racers which liave been gravitating to Feidling. In every one of the races for Monday there vail be a large field. Thirteen horses will start in the first race—the Waiata Hack, at 12 noon. Toanga Qias top weight, with 9.5, with Strathmoira second to him, carrying 9.1. John, handicapped at 8.0, will carry an additional 101b, penalty for winning the Warrengate Cup yesterday. •There are fifteen starters for the Mangaone Stakes, Overtime having been scratched. Lord Soult, as well known as any horse on the Feilding course, shares ■with North East the honour of carrying top weight, 9.13, and there should be a great tussle for firet place in this race. Other top notchers in this race are Crucinella (9.6), Sir Antrim (8.10), St. Bill (8.4), a.nd True Shot (8.2). In the KJawa Kawa Hurdles, eight horses will go the post, Maggie Paul aud Mount Cook having been scratched. Maidi will carry top weight (11.3). The second hurdle cr>aoe, 'the Taonui Hack, has ,ten acceptors, with Mr W. J. Douglas' Pikopiko top weight, 11.9. The big event of the day, the Feilding Cup, of 500 soys., is to be competed for by twelve horses. Cruoinella carries top weight (9.5), Sandstream (9.4), Milan (8.12), Parable (8.2), and Bour(7.12) being the first five in regard to weight. The Onepuhi Hack Welter has drawn fifteen competitors, the Halcom.be Welter fourteen, and the Oongo Hack eighteen.

Every preparation has been made for the successful conduct of tho meeting by the Seoreta-ry, Mr E. Goodbe3iere. TJie track is in firstclass order, the lawns a,nd stand could not be bettea- for the pleasure of visitors and patrons, the catering is in the capable hands of Mr A. J. Hart, and if the .weatiher is propitious, the Easter meeting of 1910 should be one of the best.
