A TALE OF A TATTERSALL TICKET. '
ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. ! PER PRESS ASSOCIATION Auckland, March 15. At the Rolice Court, Joseph William Kneebone, of Waihi, was charged .with obtaining £771 9s 3d from the bank at Waihi by false pretences. I Detective MoMahon stated that accused and two others were .winners of a prize of £2300 in Tattersall's sweep on the Launceston Cup, and that accused had "left with the whole of tho proceeds in company with one of his partners. The partner (Punnil), in offering to go bail for Kneebone, said that all the money bad been forwarded to Australia, where both were going for a holiday trip. He stated that two others who claimed to be interested, in the ticket, had merely agreed to "come_ in," but had not paid anything in the ticket. The Magistrate refused bail, and remanded Kneebone to Waihi.
