PRIMITIVE METHODISM

The quarterly nicotinic of the Primitive Methodist Church in connection with the Halcombe circuit was he'd on Monday last at the residence f>f Mr J. Managh. It was found that Haleombe and soino of the smaller preaching places were suffering from removals, making the work more strenuous for those remaining. A few from elsewhere had come and partly compensated for losses. Although additions were made to the members' roll, there was no increase to report, as a corresponding number had to be deleted. The outgo for the quarter wa.s .£57 13s lid, including a debit balance of £3 14s 3d from the previous quarter. The- .income was £52 .I7f> -Id, leaving a deficiency of £4 16s 7il. Fully £12 of this deficiency is represented by yearly .subscriptions lor tlie monthly Church paper, which in (lie ordinary way will bo paid during the next quarter, as the year covered by subscription only now terminates. Considering that this quarter ends the' fourth year of the ministry of the J.tev. J. Clover, and only tins .sniiill amount of shortage in quarter day finance, the financial aspect of the circuit was deemed very satisfactory. Beaconsfield and Dunolly have very substantially helped to produce the result. During the past four quarters these two places have contritributed £72 15s 2d out of a total income of £214 Os lid, the increase on what, they contributed four years ago being fully 30 per cent. Matters aiI'ecting the future were dealt with, foremost being the Sunday School An niversary at Haleombe on the 2tOh and 21st of March and a gift sale i'oi tho reduction of parsonage debt about the middle of May next. A profitable conversation on bow best to promote the work of God was heartily participated in. The next quarterly meeting was fixed for Itosebank, Juno 6.
