Christchurch, March 6. A street preacher, who was before tlie Magistrate's Court yesterday, charged with having caused an obstruction, was convicted and ordered to pay costs.
He said it was against his religious principles to pay costs.
The Magistrate: Don't talk rubbish "like that! If you are in this country, you must obey its laws. You will go to gaol for the full term prdvi 103 by law."
The preacher was thus sent to gaol for a month.
