ROYAL HOTEL DAMAGED.
[per press association.] Palmerston N., March 17. At 11.10 this morning a firo broke | out in the Royal Hotel and was not | extinguished till a considerable amount of damage had been done by (ire and water. The fire originated in an unoccupied room, where spare beading was kept, but there is no idea as to how it started. The insurances are: Building, £4000 in the Now Zealand Office; £500 in the London, Liverpool and Globe. Furniture, £1500 in thw London, Liverpool and Globe. The stock in Hallenstem Bros . premises beneath a portion of tho hotel on fire was damaged by water, but not to a great extent.
