CAUGHT.
A DISASTROUS CALAMITY. FOURTEEN WORKMEN DROWNED [by electric telegraph — copyright.] [per press association.] London, March 7. During the preparations to admit water to the almost finished Vittoria Dock at Birkeoihead, a high wind and a high tide broke the piles of timber forming :the dam and the inrush water caught 19 men working in the dock, and swept away the platform and <s Huge crane which collapsed upon the workmen, pinning them down. Five men had miraculous escapes.
