THE KILTIES.

ABOUT THEIR COMING TO FEILDING. "The Kilties are coming I" The visit of gigantic Sergt.-Major Roderick McKenzie yesterday brought tho famous Canadian Kilties' Band into much closer touch with Feilding than any published announcement had done. Folks now want to know all about the great band of players, dancers, and singers, who are to give an afternoon performance on the racecourse Mn Monday afternoon and a concert in the Drill Hall at night, with popular prices for both. If the weather is wet, both entertainments will be held in the Drill Hall. < "If tho provoking of genuine enthusiasm be considered as a test, then the Kilties rank away up in the front line," said the San Francisco Bulletin. The London Pelican said: "The Kilties have come, have been seen and heard, and judging by the applause which welcomed them at the Albert Hall, have conquered." Agreeable variety is lent to the entertainment by the inclusion in the band's repertoire of a number of lighter American and other popular modern compositions, these being given with novel instrumental and, occasionally, vocal effect. In its playing strength the band consists of 32 performers, of whom about a fourth play reed instruments. Its conductor is Mr Albert Cook, a gifted musician of wide .experience, who is also a cornet soloist. The band has other soloists, and a male choir, which sings part songs. Tho band , which, is accompanied by Mr T. P. J. Power, of Canada, the director of the tour, arrives in Feilding by tho noon train on Monday, and will begin the matinee performance at 2.30 o'clock. The programme will include the lovely overture to Rossini's opera, "William Tell," a bagpipe solo by Pipe-Major Albert Johnstone, a part song by the male chorus, a Serenade for the flute and French horn, and the diverting finale "Hurrah for Harrigan." Preceding the evening concert, the Kilties will parade in the Square, and march through town, headed by the towering drum-major. It will be an exciting time when the Kilties come !
