Colliss. and Bryant. COR H ESPONDENCE. The. Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote stating that as there was no one in occupation oi section 313. Aorangi Block, aud as there was no road of access to it, the Council's suggestion to spend the thirds in respect of that section on forming and metalling at the lower end of Aorangi would hardly meet with the approval of the Land Board. — Received. FINANCIAL STATEMENT. The Clerk read the following financial .statement.: Rates outstanding February 8, 1909, Taonui Riding, ' general £29 4s sd, special £2 15s -3d; ; collected, genera'! £1477 lis Gd, special £147 3s Sd. Mangaone riding. outstanding, general £4.8 Ids 3d, special £2 4s 3d : collected, general -1806 lis lOd, special £90 9s .3d. Fitzherbert, outstanding. general £16o' 16s 2d, special £10 4s 3d; collected, general £1595 15s Gd, special £100 3s sd. Total , outstanding, ge- : neral £244 15 lOd, special £15 :*s ■ lid. The following were the credit balances, allowing for rates outstanding: Taonui, £528 2s 2d; Mangaone, 1 £229 14s sd ; Fitzherbert, £1079 3s 9d. ENGINEERS REPORT. In reference to the Mangaone riding, the engineer reported : The roadmen have been generally employed spreading and breaking metal on the contracts. Mr Lloyd has completed metalling on Blake's and Kelvin Urove roads, and about half finished the Bunny thorpe-Stoiiey Creek road. Air Jensen has completed metalling ou Biinnythorpe-Kairanga road, and will be finished' on the Railway road in seven or eight days. There are about 60 yards to cart. Stewart and Sons have finished metalling on Cameron's line, and have started on Rangitikei line. The formation on Milson's line has been started, and will be (completed in a few days. When the old bridge is removed this formation wil require metalling, about 18 yards being required. The fence on Te Alatai road has been completed. Several complaints have been made about the nuisances at Stoney Creek and Bunnythorpe Cheese Factories. I Moved to call tenders for next meeting for 'metalling ithe Faonui Railway road. I Cr Talbott opposed a motion to spend further money for metalling the Taonui Railway road, which, he said, was only iised of necessifc by two dairymen, the rest of the settlers having the option of crossing the line and taking the metalled road when driving stock to Feilding.Crs Mayo and Anderson- advocated doing the work. — The Chairman said tho work would bo deferred meantime, i though it would have to be considered later. — Cr Mayo said the children had to .take the Railway line to get to Taonui school. If the road was not metalled this year it would hve 'to ,%e formed 1 Inexb summer. — The matter was deferred. Accounts amounting to £552 19s 9d were passed for payment. It was resolved that casual labour bo paid at the rate of Is an hour after Mardh 1.
