Tho Australian eleven won its match against the team representing the Rest of Australia by eight wickets. The weather was nicve and the wicket good. Noble (125) played brilliant and faultless cricket, whilst Gregory (126 not out) played a patient game, with a splendid exhibition of behind-the-wicket strokes. The partnership produced 236. runs. For the second match, commencing at Melbourne on Friday, the following have been selected: — Australia. — McArtney, Ransford, Hazlitt, Armstrong, Gregory, McAlister, Bardsley, Cotter, Dbdds (Tasmania) and O'Connor.
