The Premier received a communication from San Francisco yesterday to the elfect that there was a strong desire in the United States for the reestablishment of a direct service with New Zealand. The project is in embryo, but Sir Joseph Ward understands, if a service is arranged, it* steamers will be larger than those previously employed As to the port oi call, Auckland * would be selected either tor a 'Jb'risco or Vancouver service, as, with the Main Trunk railway completed, it would give the best and quickest connection to the whole dominion. *
