THE ADDINGTON MARKETS.

Christohurch, July 1. At the Addington live stock market to-day there was a fair entry ot stock. Fat lambs wore very firm, and there was , m impovement in store sheep. Pigs sold at last week's prices. Thbre was a moderate entry ot store sheep, the larger proportion being lambs, and the balance ewes, with an odd pen of .wethers. There was good inquiry for ewes, and though the quality was only moderate, they sold well Four, six, and eight-tooth ewes sold at 13s, better sorts up to 14s, forward lambs 10s 6d to lis 6d, others 9s to 10s. . . . There was a small entry or Jambs, mostly in fair-sized lots. An excellent demand existed throughout, and prices were firm, the bulk of the entry selling at 15s and upwarde. Tegs made 17s 6d to 19s 3d ordinary freezing weights 14s to 17s, lighter 12s 6d to 13s 6d. There was a fairly large yarding of fat sheep, and at the opening of the sale ewes showed an improvement where guaranteed freetom lamb. The entry of fat cattle totalled dSB head, and included some extra prime and heavy-weight steers. The market started at last week's prices, but afterwards values advanced Is and 2s 6d per 1001 b. Steers made £6 to £11 17s 6d, extra £13 to £15 2s 6d, heifers £5 to £8 12s 6d, cows £4 10s— equal to 23s 6d to 26s- 1 for prime beef, 27s 6d for extra prime, 21s to 23s for medium, and 18s to 20s 6d for inferior per 1001 b. A small entry of veal calves sold at 8s to 60s.
