HER TWO HUSBANDS.

AN AUSTRALIAN ROMANCE. HOW WILL SHE SOLVE THE PROBLEM? Tliat truth is stronger than fiction is onco moro proved (says tho Geelong correspondent of tlie Sydney Telegraph). In 1802 Mr and Mrs Galsworthy, a local yonng couple, wore married here. The first two yoars of thoir wedded lifo was an uninterrupted period of happiness ; then a tiff occurred, and tho unpleasantness was taken so seriously by tho young husband that he cleared out and left no trace as to where he had gone. After waiting and hoping for his return in vain, Mrs Galsworthy was obliged to return to her former occupation as a domestic servant, in order to earn a livelihood. Subsequently she attracted the attention of a lover named Carpenter, and, believing she was a widow, Mrs Galsworthy in duo course became Mrs Carpenter. The story of the death of the first husband, however, turned out to bo untrue, for he arrived safe and sound in Geelong this week. When ho made inquiries, he was shocked to find that his wife, thinking him dead, had married another man, and that the woman was then in tho receiving ward at the hospital, suffering from temporary mental derangement. His affection for her had, however, not diminished, and he called to see her at tlie hospital on Thursday. Sho at once recognised him, and, strange to say, her condition of health improved immediately. She is still in hospital, but Mr Galsworthy is determined to not only take her back to his new home, but he also says he will keep the two children born since she became Mrs Carpenter. The second husband denies the right of tho first husband to either woman or children, and threatens ho will have the case tested . — b— — — a— p— ■
