THE PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE. ANNUAL CONFERENCE TO BE HELD AT FEILDING. The Wellington Provincial Executive of the Farmers' Union met at Palmerston yesterday. PresentMr J. G. Wilson (chairman), Messrs J. C. Cooper (Tane), E. H. Crabb (Kimbolton), W. F. Jacob (Kiwitea), W. Matheson (Eketahuna), J. H. Escott (Woodville), T. Moss (Eketahuna), J. Morrison (Halcombo), Capt. Hewitt (Palmerston North), H. J. Richards (Levin), and A. E. Russell (treasurer). The head office forwarded copies of revised rules for distribution to branches, also a resume of the work done by the Colonial Executive in carrying out the resolutions passed at the Colonial Conference. The Taranaki Executive forwarded the following resolution passed by them as follows: — "That the law be amended so that farmers cannot be cited before the Conciliation Board unless a majority of the Farrft Labourers' Union is in favour of same, and members of such Union are composed of a majority of farm labourers in the district. After discussion it was resolved to endorse tho motion. RVr Cooper gave a report of the business done in connection with the shearers' dispute and tlie action taken with regard to the filing of the agreement arrived at at the conference. Tlie matter will come before the Arbitration Court next Thursday at Pahnerston North, when the award will be mado operative. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Cooper for the able manner in which ho had represented tlie employers and for the great amount of time v *and trouble ho had gone to in attending the various sittings of tlie Court. The date of the annual Provincial Conference to be held this year at Feilding was fixed for Tuesday, May 26. It is expected to bo one of the largest conferences held in this province. Tho report of the Organising Committee showed excellent work had been done hy the Provincial Organiser, Mr Fowler, in the Waverley, Wanganui and Pahiatua districts. A district branch had been formed at Pahiatua with 130 members. ] It was resolved to notify branches that the levy for the ensuing year would be fis per member and branches will he asked to express an opinion on the question of graduated levies.
