THE CAUSE OF THE SPLIT.
DISPUTES BILL CARRIED. (Received March 26, 10.30 a.m.) Sydney, March 26. The Conference split on tho attitude taken up by <fcho Newcastle Company, which asserted its right to employ non-union labour. The continuance of the strike paralyses -the carrying industry in the Northern Rivers districts. The second reading of the Industrial Disputes Bill was carried by 28 votes to 26. Nerther the Government nor the Opposition anticipated such a 6udden termination of tho debate on the bill.
