The Canadian Government invited Premier Dea-kin to represent Australia at tho Quebec tercentenary celebrations. After communicating with the Earl of Dudley (the newly appointed Go-vernor-General), Mr Deakin replied regretting that Parliamentary duties would preclude his visiting Canada, , but he had arranged with the Earl «'«t Dudley to represent the Common- , wealth at the celebrations.
