After careful inquiry the manager of the Northern Steamship Company has come to the conclusion that only three persons were drowned in the wreck of the Kia, Ora. A canoe found off Whangarei was abandoned by a young man named Kenneth Buchanan who was capsized and swam ashore two miles. The following passengers and crew of the Kia Ora were taken to Kawhia to-day— Mrs Cox, Mr and Mrs Kavanagh, Mr Partridge, Messrs Baggstrom and Lister (engineers), De Wolff (mate), Robinson (second mate), Miss Kfllor (stewardess), Peterson (chief steward), De Colla (cooks' boy), Johnston (cabin boy), Andrews (A.8.). Pratt, Barraclough, Herdson and Lush walked to Kawhia. Mr and Mrs Mclntosh and two children went overland. Kino Haku, a Maori passenger, is staying at Shearer's farm.
