BLACK-PREMYSLAV CONCERT

* The box plan for the Black-Premy-slav Concert is now open at Milson j and Coles. It is certainly a very uncommon occurrence to have such a complete concert company visiting us. The world's artists on one platform, with the addition of a brilliant soprano and pianiste, will give a wide choice for enjoyment. Mr Black is a very renowned singer, and Mr Premyslav is credited with being on a level with the world's greatest fiddlers. In Sydney, her Excellency Lady Northcote, frequently invited the Polish violinist to Government House to play to her. A ' Wellington exchange thus comments : j —"The best must win" has been again exemplified, this time in connection with the Wellington season of the concert company headed by Mr Andrew Black and M. Leopold Premyslav, whioh attracted the best house of the season last night. So surprisingly meritorious have those concerts been, that were the company ! to give another trio of performances j such as have afforded so much in- j tense pleasure, the Town Hall would be taxed to accommodate the people. I At this, the outset of the company's, tour of New Zealand and other places to be visited need not wait for local j opinion, but can take for granted that i the company is one of the finest com- • i binations of concert artists that this ! colony has ever heard. The "lion" !of last evening's performance was ■ certainly M. Premyslav, whose mag- ; I nificent violin playing has been the [ , theme of general conversation in 10- ' cal music circles, and whose superb ! tone and masterful technique have , > marked him as one of the forefront ' 1 artists of to-day. One of his contri- ! butions, Hubay's "Le Zepbir," is a j clever trifle that aims at exhausting i the possibilities of the instrument, I and it gained for the player the ova- j tion he deserved. Mr Black, though suffering f rOm a severe cold, sang like the artist he is. Miss Rojsina Buckman's and Miss Bessie Beatty's contributions were most meritorious.
