Old Boys 0; Petone 29, Victoria College 3. Auckland, June 8. Ideal weather prevailed to-day for the Auckland Rugby Union Cup competitions. There were fair attendances. A good game was witnessed between Ponsonby and Parnell, the latter having made a great improvement this season. Parnell showed fine dash, but Ponsonby's heavy pack proved too good towards the end ,and Ponsonby won by 17 points to nil. Newton played a fair game against City, who are leading in the competition, and for the greater part of the first spell Newton had rather the best of it. In the second half City's form told, and they won by 24 points to 3. Northshore and Grafton, the two teams at the bottom of the list, played an uninteresting game, but Grafton created a great surprise by winning by 5 points to nil— their first win. Christchurch, June 8. The first grade football competition was continued to-day in fine weather. Results— Sydenham (8) beat Albion (0). Old Boys (5) drew with Merivale (5). and Christchnrch (18) beat Canterbury College (5); Linwood a bye. ■ Dunedm, June 8. To-day's matches resulted as follows: — University beat Alhambra by 25 points to 3, Pirates beat Union by 6 to 3, Port beat Taieri by 33 to 3. Southern beat Dunedin by 9 to 6, Kaikorai beat Zingari by 14 to 0. Masterton, June 9. In the Wairarapa Senior championship on Saturday Masterton beat Red Star by 9, to 3. Greytown forfeited to Carterton. Masterton wad Carterton are now leading for the championship.
