IMPORTANT TO FARMERS.

[PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, May 21. Judgment was given this morning by Mr Justice Cooper in the action Mills v. Riddiford, an appeal involving the use of sheep brands. Riddiford's registered brand was a quarter out of the right ear and a fork out of the left, and his custom had been to brand female sheep with a quarter out of the right ear, and males with a fork out of the left. The Magistrate had upheld this use of a registered brand, but Mr Justice Cooper upheld the appeal against this decision, and laid it down that it was the whole brand that was registered, and not part of it, for one class of sheep, and part for another class. The whole brand must be used on each class. The appeal was allowed, with £7 7s costs, and the. Magistrate was ordered to alter his decision. t .-'fV^_vfyf- S'«^a________>
