- ■■■. + -.. . (Per Press Association.) Ashburton, Friday. About 1 o'clock this morning a hut at Lauriston, occupied by William O'Brien, about 50 years ef age, a labourer, was found in flames. O'Brien was burnt to death. Wesport, Friday. T. Hay Mackenzie, stationmaster in charge of Wesport, who entered the railway service under the Provincial Governmentfcin Otago in 1876, died suddenly of heart failure on the wharf at 4 p.m. to-day. ■ Napier, Friday. At the iuquest on the body of the man Alexander Matheson, found dead on the Olrig station, a verdict was returned that death was caused by a gunshot wound, but there was to evidence to show how it was inflicted. Dunedin, Saturday. A small house, occupied by Mary Yardley, Balclutha, was destroyed by fire early this morning and the woman was burnt to death.
