♦ Telegraph Press Association Couvn^ht Wellington, November 80. Rev F. W. Isitt has telegraphed the withdrawal of his candidature for Motueku, there being now two candidates. Christchurch, Nov 30. A crowd estimated at about 5000 filled the Coliseum Skating Rink last night, when T. E. Taylor replied to the speech delivered by the Premier the previous evening. The j proceedings were very lively, and the earlier part of the meeting was noisy, but became more orderly as the speech proceeded. The speaker I traversed many of the statements i made by the Premier, and expressed surprise that Mr Seddon had not answered the questions put to him by the Women's Institute. On the voucher question be said he believed Mr Fisher was perfectly justified in demanding the information he asked for. He regretted as much as anybody that the matter had not been cleared up, for it could not be finally cleared up until the testimony of the four post office officials had been solved. He confessed he could not solve that problem, but it might be solved some day. Dunedin, November 80. The Right Hon. the Premier arrived to night and leaves in the morning to turn the first sod of the Lawrence Roxburgh railway. Dannevirke, This Day. The first address here in the eleo tion campaign was given last night by Mr Hunter, Opposition candidate. The speech was mainly devoted to criticisms of the actions of the Government. The candidate supported the freehold, but opposed Bible reading in schools. He was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence. Gisbornb, This Day. The following six candidates have been nominated for the Eastern Maori electorate : — Wi Pere, Apirana Ngata, Mohi te Atahikonia, Ibaia Hutana, Tuheke Kohere, and Tiki Paaka. Mr Pleasants will address the Oroua electors at Eimbolton on Monday. Mr F. Y. Lethbridge will address the electors in the Drill Hall, Feilding, on Monday, and at Makino in the schoolhouse on Tuesday. Mr 0. C. Pleasants, the Liberal and Government candidate, addressed the electors of Apiti in the Town Hall on Monday night. The Hall was well filled, and there was a large number of ladies present. Mr F. Gray occupied the chair. The candidate was well received, and after briefly touching upon some of the questions mentioned by him in his preliminary address introduced a number of new subjects, and contrasted the progressive legislation of the present Government as oompared with the inactive policy of the Opposition. At the conclusion of his address he was warmly applauded, and on the motion of Mr G Cowan was tendered a hearty vote of thanks.
