BOER ATTACK ON OUTPOSTS.

Further particulars to hand relate that the Boers, wearing khaki and British bandoliers, surprised a sentry at Zurfontein, and got within seven yards of the trenches before they were identified. The leader was unhorsed but crawled back. However, he was shot dead when he rose. He proved to be a member of the Free State Volksraad. One hundred and fifty Britishers, with the utmost gallantry, repelled a thousand of the enemy. Lieut. Freemason, with ninety of the Cheshire Infantry and a few details, who were at Kaalfontein, came off scathless. Eight hundred Boers, with two guns, vainly shelled the position, and made repeated attempts to rush the trenches, but were splendidly repelled with heavy losses, DYNAMITE EXPLOSION. An explosion of dynamite killed eight and wounded Commandant' Haasbrock's wife while travelling in a waggon between Boormbers and Ventersburg. ,'..,»■ -'
