FIXTURES.

NEW ZEALAND. November 29 and 30 -Feilding J.C. Dec. 26, 28, Jan. 1, 2-Auckland R.C. Summer. Jan. 1, 2— Hawke's Bay J.C. Summer. Jan. 10, 11— Woodville J.C. Summer. Feb. 22, 24 -Canterbury J.C. Hummer. March 17, 19 — Hawke's Bay J.C. Autumn. March 21, 23, 24— Dunedin J.O. Autumn. April 16, 17— Canterbury J.C. Autumn. The new grandstand on the Feilding racecourse is now nearly completed and is in a sufficiently advanced state to be used for the Spring Meeting on Wednes day ar:d Thursday next. The stand proper is • uuder cover and is capable of seating about 700 persons., while above this another stand is being made which will be capable of accommodating about 500 persons, ' but the latter will not be ready for use at the coming races. Under neafch the stand is a large luncheon room for the use of the public which will seat nearly 150 persons, and attached to'it is a convenient pantry and kitchen. There is, also, a committee luncheon room and a public bar under the stand. The bar is all under cover, and being provided with a " horse shoe " counter the requirements of the publicin liquid refreshments will be supplied with the least delay and with a maximum of comfort. Attached to tha covered stand is a cloak room and lavatories for the use of ladies. In front of the commodious stand there has been made a terrace, six feet at its highest elavation and sloping away to nothing for some six feet from the stand, while it is, also, extended beyond each end of the structure for about sixty feet. The terrace has keen covered with turf and adds considerably to the appearance of the lawn. A new and larger totalisator house has been erected and a space around it has been concreted, the appointments here being also an improvement on the old building. Immediately behind the totalisator house is the telegragh office, which has now been constructed so as to be approached by persons who do not go on the lawn as well as by persons within the lawn enclosure ; thus a convenience is afforded the public which was preyious'y restricted. Mr W. Wilkinson is the contractor for the building, and he is doing the work in a satisfactory manner. Messrs Jaekman and Poole had the contract for making the terrace. Amongst the improvements which are being made on the racecourse is the s\all accommodation for the horses. The front (or that sids facing the lawn) has been provided with doors while in the opposite or southern side, doors have been placed so that horses in training can be taken out to the track from that Fide. During the race days the doors on the southern side will be locked and the doors ' on the northern side opened, the reverse being the case when the stalls are being used in training operations. A pond is being formed adjacent to the lawn, and when the work now in course of progress has been completed, atid the ornamental trees which have been planted are a few years older, this will be a pretty pleasure resort. Mr E. Jaelsman, the caretaker, has the tracks on the course in first class order. There aye some sixteen or twenty horses in training on the local racing club's tracks, amongst them being th« following : — Under the care of Mr J. L, Proctor — The Miller, Rongotea, Bracar Sudor, and First Queen ; under charge oi Mr R Sheeny — Horoeka and First Shot : Mr W. Humphries has Omuia and Laundress ; Mr J. Murtagh has Thurlspot and Tambour; Mr Lanabess" King's Guard and another; Mr Graham Atea; Mr C. Bath's Matchlock ; Mr A. Brown's Handy £oy.
