Sad Fatal Accident.
O At about a quarter past 8 on Saturday last a most distressing accident occurred in the Avenue, as the result of which a bright and promising lad named Thomas Tracey, aged 17 years, met his death. It appears tbafc young Tracey and a companion named Ellison, were riding down the . Avenue on bicycles, travelling at a comparatively slow pace. Just as they were opposite Mr H. B. Williamson's chemist's shop a boy named Salvin came round the Post Office corner on horseback. A few yards further on the two lads on the bicycles tried to get out of the way by pulling towards the footpath, while young Salwin tried to let them pass by palling his horse in the opposite direction, However before he could do so a collision occurred, with the result that young Tracey was thrown heavily to the ground,: and apparently landed on his head. On being picked up he was carried into Mr Williamson's shop, and medical attendance was at once obtained, but without any avail, as the poor young fellow succumbed to his injuries almost immediately.— Chronicle.
