An Italian anarchist, named Luccheni, stabbed the Empress of Austria, at noon to-day, whilst she was walking from tlie Beaurwaga Hotel, Geneva, to board the steamer Lake, at Geneva When the Empress received the blow she fell, but rose immediately and went aboard the steamer, where she fainted ; failing to recover she was removed back to the hotel ancl died shortly afterwards. It was found that she had been stabbed to the heart. Luccheni was arrested immediately afterwards. The Empress was visiting Switzerland incognito. She leaves two daughters, the Archduchess Gisela, born in June, 1856, and married to Priuce Leopold, of Bavaria, and the Archduchess Marie Valeria, born iv April, 1838, aud married to Franz Salva tor, Archduke of Austria-Tuscany.
