Mr Fred. Pirani at Bunnythorpe.

• There was a very large attendance at the Public Hall, Bunnythorpe, last night, when Mr F. Pirani, M.H.R., delivered a political address. Mr D. Mathieson was voted to the chair. Mr Pirani spoke for an hour and ahalf on the leading events of last session and the proposed legislation of the future, as well as upon several local matters. In reply to Mr Hansen, Mr Pirani said he was in favor of a majority of votes ruling iv polls for local loans. In reply to Mr Mathieson, Mr Pirani said the Government would not lose the interest on the new loan while it remained uninvested in mortgages, as they could easily arrange to temporarily invest it. The Chairman said that he would like to inform the meeting that a prominent resident of Wellington, who attended the House regularly, had toldi him they were lucky to have such s^. representative as Mr Pirani, as he was|' always in his place in the House, and' whenever he spoke on any subject he was listened to with respect. Mr Smith proposed a vote of thanks and confidence to Mr Pirani, and confidence in the present Government. Messrs Holland and Brady rose to second the motion. The latter said he was particularly pleased at their roember'saction in Parliament and the manner in which he had attended to every local grievance. He considered the meeting should, accord Mr Pirani a special vote of thanks for his attention to local requirements. The Chairman, in putting the two motions (which were carried unanimously), expressed his pleasure at finding an opponent like Mr Brady converted by Mr Pirani's good services. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded an enthusiastic meeting.
