MR PIRANI ELECTED A MEMBER. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was I commenced last evening. Piesent — Messrs G. Carson (chairman), Sanson, Bridge, Baker, Fry, Hurley, Becket, and Eev. J. Ross. | The minutes of the previous meet* ing, and the minutes of the Execusive, were read and confirmed. Election of Member of Board. — The election of a member of the Board to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr J. Notman was then proceeded with ; Mr F. firani being declared elected, the voting being : F. PJrani, 58 ; S. H. Drew, 29. Onga Koad.— lt was rtaolved, that unless the building is made more suitable, the capitation will be discontinued. Committees. — It wa» resolved that in all cases where committees have not been elected another opportunity should be afforded, the meetings for the purpose to be held on the first Monday in June, at 8 p.m. APPOINTMENTS. West Waitapu. — From committee, selecting Mr Galland, and from Mr Galland, accepting position ; appointment made. Awahuri. — Erom committee, selecting Mr Rogers as teacher ; appointment made. Onga road. — From Miss Mounsey, re transfer : resolved that Miss Mounsey be recommended to the Meremere Committee. Applications. — From N. McGonagle, applying for pupil teachership ; from P. Matheson, of Taonui, for transfer to a larger school ; names to go on list. Campbelltown. — From C. Bo water, applying for three weeks' sick leave; granted.— Chronicle.
