Pohangina Town Hall.
The new Town Hall at Pohangina was opened last night by a concert and dance, when the building was packed to its utmost. The Hall had been nicely decorated for the occasion. It might be mentioned that the size of the building is 45 x 25 feet, >ith a 10 feet stage. It is fairly lofty, the studs being 1 13 fee high. Messrs Adsett and Sons kinoly donated the flooring for the Hall. The cost of the building up to the present time is £65 ; with ca^li in hand and promises the committee have £34, which will be considerably increased by hist night's performance The trustees of the Hall are Messrs J. G. Browne, A, A. Wagstaff and G. Adsett; hon. secretary and treasurer Mr A. E. Welsh. The programme of the concert was as follows : — Part I. — Piano overture, Miss Valentine (who also played several accompaniment)*) ; " The Chairman's address," comic song, " Dear me is that possible/ Mr I reseder ; Instrumental trio, Messrs Percival. Kochelle nnd Tombs , son<r, '' Anchored," Mr L. E Heade ; song, Mrs Pearce ; Sword Dar.ce, Master Peddie ; Musical item on the autoharp, Mr Clapham ; song, ' : Mighty Deep,'' MiGrace ; song, tl Sisters Love " Mrs We'th. Part II. — Overture, Mr J. Wilson ; comic son.', " Uo, do, my Huckleberry do," Mr Treseder ; song. " Dublin !-ay," Mrs Culling ; Highland Fling, Master Peddie; " Violin solo," Mr Percival ; song 1 , "' Remember me no more," Miss Williams ; song, "Rocked in the cradle of the deep," Mr W. Grace ; song, " King's Highwayman," Mr Bangles ; song, Mr Treseder ; " God Save the Queen." Most of the items were encored, Mr Treseder especially having to continually mnke his re-appearance. The piano was kindly lent by Mrs Thornton. A vote of thanks was passed to Messrs T. ami J. Wilson, J. Rimmer, G. Trass, and S. Clapham (who formed the orchestra) and all the performers. Dancing was mcrrilly kept up until the small hours. Kveryone thoroughly enjoying themselves.
