Apiti Wesleyan Church Anniversary.

The anniversary of the above Church was celebrated last evening with a tea and concert in Mr Guy's Hall, both of which were largely attended. The edibles for the tea were provided by the ladies connected with the Church, and the tables were presided over by Mesdames D. Prince, J. Buckmau, G. Prince, MacMillan, Misses Carter (2). Macmillan (2). At the concert the Rev. T. R. Richards presided. Songs were given by Mrs E. Palmer, ' When you and I were young Maggie ' aud • Kate O'Shauc'; Mr F. A. Miller, ' The midshipmite ;' Mr T. J. Clapham, ' Good company ;' Mrs D. Prince, ' They are waiting;' Miss Buckman, ' Side by side ' (encored) ; Mrs Guy, ' Thy face is always near to me :' Mi.sls Carter, 'Wishing cap' aud ' Sily-cr cup;' Miss R. Buckman, 'The beautiful dream ;' Mr Hargreaves, ' The death of Nelson ;" Mr J. Curreen played a violin solo; The Misses Buckmau (2) and L. Prince sang ' Happy are we,' as a trio; Mr H. H. Miller, organ solo ; Misses Watson (2) and Buckman sang a trio, ' Rest remaincth, Oh how sweet ;' Messrs Miller Bros. (4) sang the glee, ' Hail smiling morn ' encored ; the choir, conducted by Mrs Buckmau, sang the choruses, ' Prepare ye the way of the Lord,' and ' Come, Oh come, with me.' Mr Guv read the annual balance-sheet of thu Church, and said the year was commenced with a delicit of i' 2 10s, in addition to a loan of iso from the Church loan fund. The expenditure was — £8 1 10s for cleaning the Church, i."2 ;3s for lighting, two lamps .£1 10s, lamp glassce 7s, and .t'tt 7s was paid off- the loan of £r>o, making a total of £1H 9s. The receipts were— Seat rents £2, last Sunday's collections fl los 'M, scat rents unpaid £2 10s, tea and concert estimated to produce £~> 10s, timber and nails sold .11 f>s ; total, £13 10s 9d, leaving a deficency of .1:4 19s. During the year an organ had been purchased at a cost of £'-)6, of which amount £15 ;~>s had been paid off. The Church was attended chiefly by young people, and he would like to sec more of the elder people attend. Votes of thanks were accorded to all those who had assisted at the tea and concert, on the motion of Mr Guy, seconded by Mr Vicary, and a pleasurable concert was concluded by singing the Doxology, and the Rev. T. R. Richards pronouncing the benediction.
