Feilding Harmonic Society.
«, The first practice of the above society -was held in the Foresters' Hall last evening, and despite the unfavourable nature of the weather about 40 ladies and gentlemen put in an appearance and these were taken through several glees by Mr Meadows, the conductor, in a rery satisfactory manner. The chorus was ably assisted by Mrs Bichmond (piano), Mr 8. Andrews (cornet), Mr F. Q. Woollams (flute), and Mr $. Moore (violin). During the erening the conductor in timat )d that the committee had sent to Wellington for a number of glees but as only one had as yet been received, there consequently were cot sufficient to go round, but thoy hoped at the next practice to have a plentiful supply. Mr Meadows is now arranging the band parts, so it may reasonably be expected that the meetings ia future will be even more successful than the first. The attendance last night would have been much larger hut for the fact that a number of members were indisposed, apologies for non-attendance beinjr many. Much enthuiiasm is being displayed by members, and this augurs well for the future success of the society. The practices will be held in the Foresters 1 Hall every Thursday evening, at 7.30 p.m. sharp.
