TUAKAU BRANCH AFFAIRS

ANNUAL MEETING HELD

There was an attendance.' of 85 members and friends at the annual meeting and social evening of tlic Tuakau branch of the Returned Services Association, held last week, Mr J. E. Geraghty presiding. The report stated that the membership stood at 80 and that the branch was in a sound financial position. The usual activities had been carried out during the year, including visits to the Kingseat hospital when tobacco, cigarettes, sweets 'and magazines had been presented to the inmates. The report thanked all who had assisted the branch during the year, especially the ladies who had assisted with the sale of poppies.

The following were elected to the committee: Messrs J. E. Geraghty (chairman), J. Frew (secretary), A. Hodgson, R. Davies, A. Smeed, R. Ewing, E. V. Tout, D. Hudson, W. 0. Hewitt and P. G. R. Taylor; delegates to central executive, Messrs Geraghty and Hudson.

Present at the meeting included Messrs L. C. Logan (president), I vie Brown (vice-president), and E. G. Moncrief (general secretary) of the Franklin Association and representatives from the Pukekohe branch. Mr Logan occupied the chair for the social evening, and in a short address congratulated the branch on the continued progress it was making. Appreciated items were given by a military nand, by Messrs L. M. Ovens and H. Webster. Mr T. H. Midgley was at the piano.
