PRESENTATION OF JEWEL
TO PAST DISTRICT PRESIDENT
BRO. F. RIDDER HONOURED
At a meeting of Kia Ora Lodge No. 27 of Druids, held at Pukekohe on Thursday last, opportunity was taken to present to Past District President Bro. Frank Bidder, of Pukekohe East, a Past District President’s jewel from Grand Lodge. Bro. Ridder is a member of Kia Ora Lodge but retains his membership with Pahiatua Lodge No. 25.
Bro. E. Beagley, who niade the presentation, -spoke very highly of the services Bro. Ridder was rendering to Druidism, and congratulated him on earning the distinction and hoped that he would long be spared to carry out the lodge work so willingly undertaken.
Letters from Grand Lodge, the District President, Arch Druid, officers and members of Lodges 25, 28 and 33, also the Pahiatua Juvenile Lodge, apologising for unavoidable absence and congratulating Bro. Ridder. were then read by the secretary. All members then joined in a toast of congratulation to Bro. Ridder. Bro. Ridder, in'reply, stated that the occasion was a very pleasant surprise to him as everything had been kept so secret. He was (f course thrilled to receive the jewel and thanked the Lodge for arranging the function and for all the congratulations bestowed upon him by Kia Ora and other lodges. FA further stated that it had always been his ambition to carry out his duties to the best of his ability and would assuredly continue to do so. The evening concluded with a toast to Pahiatua Lodge.
