SOLDSERS’ COIVJFORTS FUND ENJOYABLE DANCE HELD A social evening held at Buckland for Ihe soldiers’ comforts fund resulted in a full nail. Harrison’s orchestra provided a variety of music that kept the young folks dancing with a swing. Non-dancers played cards beside a cheery fire and a willing band of workers served an appetising supper which was welcomed by alt. A social evening was held in the Buckland hall in honour of Aircraftman Williams, of Hie radio branch of the Royal New Zealand Air Force who expects lo go overseas. Much appreciated music for dancing was supplied by Mr S. Hu line. Mr S. C. Schofield said that New Zealand airmen were making names for themselves and he was glad to see more airmen going to help those who had smashed the German raiders. Mr R. Wilcox presented Aircraftman Williams with a fountain pen and with it Ihe best wishes of the people of Buckland and a hope for a safe return.
Aircraftman Williams' father who was present, was asked to take a lovely bouquet to his wife who is an invalid and was unable to be . present. This action was much appreciated by Mrs Williams. Mr Terry Williams is a twin brother of Mr Errol Williams, of Buckland. The evening was brought to a close by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
