ARDMORE DANCE
FAREWELL TO SOLDIERS E. RAINGER AND E. TAYLOR Residents of the Ardmore district crowded the public hall on Saturday evening to farewell two of the local boys, Privates E. Rainger and E. Taylor who were both popular residents. Mr G. Burnside, chairman-..0f the Ardmore Patriotic Committee, extended the residents’ best wishes and expressed the hope they would have the best of luck and a safe return. On behalf of the residents he pr.dgented each soldier with a fountain pen. A very enjoyable evening was spent in dancing, playing games and progressive 500. During the evening the pupils of Miss P. Tennant gave splendid exhibitions of fancy dancing, those participating being Naomi Heron, ' Colleen Young, Pauline Stokes, Flora Brown and Shirley Beil. Songs by Mr Gregor Johnson were greatly appreciated. Dance music and accompaniments were shared by Mesdames W. G. Bell and Ray Brown. The duties of master of ceremonies were capably carried out by Mr Neale. An excellent supper was provided by the ladies of the district. Among the principal guests were: Mrs and Miss Elaine Rainger. Mr and Mrs R. Johns (Patumalioe). Mr and Mrs Bawling (Devonport)YMr F. Smith (Devonport), Miss Freda Paten. Mrs Grovener (Orere), Mrs and Miss Joy Paton. '
The singing of “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows” and the National Anthem brought a memorable evening to a close.
