A CHRISTMAS BRIDE
SERVICE AT ST. ANDREWS DIX—COWSILL CHARMING GOWN CHOSEN The wedding took place on December 21 at St. Andrew’s Church, Pukekolie, of Ellen May, the only daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Cowsill, Seddon Street, Pukekohe, and Reginald Alexander, third son of Mrs M. Dix, Queen Street, Pukekohe. The service was conducted by the Rev. A. E. Prebble, and Mrs G. Bowden was the organist. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a graceful gown of cream lace ovft- taffeta fashioned on slim-lifting lines, the skirt falling in soft folds to form a train. The veil of cream tulle was held in place with a halo of cream rosebuds. She carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies. In attendance as bridesmaid was Miss Evelyn Dix, youngest sister of the bridegroom. She wore a pretty model frock of shell pink organza lace worked in silver. A short veil in toning with her frock was held in place with a spray of pink roses and she carried a sheaf of gladioli and carnations.
Mr Henry Cowsill, brother of the bride, was best man. Mr Dawson Adams and Mr Lloyd Miller acted as ushers at the church. Following the service a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Only nearest relatives of the bride and bridegroom, numbering about 70, attended. The usual toasts were honoured. Many useful presents, including a number of cheques, were received which testified to the popularity of the young couple. Mrs Cowsill received the guests wearing a frock of deep cyclamen with toning accessories. Mrs Dix, mother of the bridegroom, wore a navy and white ensemble with shoulder spray to tone. Shortly after the reception the young couple left on a tour of the North.
