THE HOUSING QUESTION
DEPARTMENT CRITICISED WHAT IS THE COUNCIL DOING? QUERY BY COUNCILLOR ‘‘What about the housing question, your -Worship?” asked Mr J. S. de Montalk at the borough council meeting this week. The Mayor in reply slated the council had written to the Minister for Housing and to Mr J. N. Massey, M.P.. who promised to go into the matter. Mr de Montalk: Well, we’ve got to do something about it. The Mayor said he thought it. strange the council had heard no more about the Government's intention regarding housing at Papakura. “But,” added the MaVor, “What can we do? If we don’t get a reply we'll write again.”
A member said he understood definitely that land behind the monu-
ment had been transferred to the housing department.
