PAPAKURA DEFEATED MIL L IKEN 0 UTSTANDING Newton won its l'ourth successive game in defeating Papakura by 28 points 1o five in a fast, open contest on Saturday. Half-way through the second spell H. Milliken, the Papakura captain, was ordered off. . He was the outstanding forward on tlie ground. Newton was minus several of its regular team, hut generally the thirteen played good football, and i! will take a well-balanced side to lower the club’s colours. The first half was very even, and for most of the time the Papakura forwards dominated the play. Papakura lest points through poor goal kicking. Four attempts from inside the twentyfive missed the goal posts. Newton played its best football in the second half, when the backs settled down, to combine effectively. The passing was brisk. Most of the movements received the timely support of the forwards. Weak tackling by the Papakura backs gave Newton several easy tries.

The fact that W. Brimble played at second five-eighths instead of in his usual position behind the scrum did not weaken the attack. He played a tine game and gave the three-quarters numerous opportunities by reason of

his quickness off the mark. H. Brimble also played a heady game and did some good tackling. Tredrea. who replaced Silva on the wing, was also prominent on attack. Dempsey fielded cleanly at fullback and made few mistakes. The pick of (lie forwards was M. Proctor, and Morris also played well.

The best Papakura back was Clarke, the eentre-lhreequarfer. who did a lot of useful work. Both wings. L. and B. Halsey, were also prominent. Besides Miliken. Rentier and Drainer played welL For Newton, tries were scored by Tredrea f2). McKenzie (2), Everilf Hi). Anderson and Oliver. Maclvenzie converted two tries. For Papakura.
