SACK DEALER CONVICTED
BREACHES OF REGULATIONS NO HEAVY TRAFFIC LICENSE A sack dealer, B. Gower of Auckland, was lined £2 and costs for having no heavy traffic license, and £1 and costs for having no driver’s license, in the Pukekohe Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. Inspector N. C. Davenport said that on February 2<> lie stopped defendant in West Street, Pukekohe, when he had 2000 empty sacks on a truck fitted with D-plates. Defendant had no heavy traffic license and said that his driving'license, issued by the Auckland City Council, was at home. The driver’s license had not been produced and no record of it could be found. Mr M. R. Grierson said that defendant had had a big influx of orders and thought of buying the truck. He decided to deliver the sacks and try the vehicle at the same time,‘but had not gone on with Hie deal as the Inspector had told him he would have difficulty in obtaining a transport license.
