VEHICLE OVERLOADED
CARRIER PROSECUTED FINE OF £4 IMPOSED A cartage contractor, Albert Edward Cossey, ot“ Drury, was fined £4 and costs in the Pukekohe Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday with overloading his truck and with exceeding the weight allowed on a third class road. The offence was committed on the Karaka school road. Inspector N. C. Davenport, in evidence, said that he saw defendant’s truck loaded with six tons of manure on the. road at Karaka. Defendant's licence permitted a gross weight of 7-1 tons but at the time in question the gross weight was 8 tons 16 cwt. Further the maximum load permitted on that road was seven tons. When questions defendant said that he had six tons of manure to deliver and took the chance.
