The many friends of Constable A. j. Maiden will regret to learn that at present he is an inmate of the Thames Hospital. Constable Alaiden was stationed at, Tuakau for some years and is well known in bowling circles throughout Franklin.
Mr E. Grant, the well-known North Auckland representative Rugby footballer, has been appointed to the staff of the Pukekohe Primary School. Mr Grant has volunteered for the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and expects to enter camp shortly.
The Rev. W. G. Slade, M.A., Methodist Minister at Pukekohe, has been elected secretary of the Methodist Conference in IO H in succession to the Rev. W. A. Burley, M.A., \yho will then become President of the Conference. Mrs 10.' N. Savage (nee Miss Saunders). first assistant clerk in the Pukekohe borough office, relinquished her position today and was farewelled by the Mayor and council. Mrs Savage was entertained at afternoon tea and received a gift as a mark of appreciation of her services while in the employ of the council. Miss Sylvia Hodson of Otorohanga, will succeed Mrs Savage, who will be residing in Auckland.
