DRINKING AT DRURY
NEAR DANCE HALL THREE MEN CONVICTED "I advise you not to have any liquor near a dance luill in future, or il may he much more costly than on this occasion." said Mr F. 11. Levien, S.M., to one of three young men who appeared at the Papakura Court to answer a charge of drinking beer in the vicinity of the Drury public ball while a dance was in progress. The young man. William George Whitley, said that as it was a New Year dance lie did not think there was any wrong in it. He forgot it was an offence now.
William Quigley and Joseph Wright appeared on similar charges. All were lined £2 10s and ordered to pay tlie costs 12 s. Constable L. L. G. Wilson said he was on duty about midnight and found a group of three young men with a bottle of beer each about 50 lo 100 yards away from the hall. All were quite sober.
