Miss H. Steedman, Ngarukehu, Taihape, who has been staying with Mrs G. N. Asher (Tuakau) has returned home.
Mr G. A. Ryder, of Pokeno, who was recently appointed Deputy Grand Master, Auckland District, M.U.1.0.0.F. is at present attending the bi-annual Dominion conference at Auckland. He is a member of the Tuakau lodge, of which lie is a past Noble Grand.
Air R. G. May, formerly postmaster at Pukekohe, iias been appointed Chief Postmaster at Auckland. Mi' May left Pukekohe lor Greymouth, and later was promoted to Chief Postmaster at New Plymouth and then to a similar position at Hamilton. Ilis many Pukekohe friends join in congratulating him on his latest welldeserved promotion.
The dealli occurred at Auckland on | Sunday of Mrs Mabel Edith McMillan, relict of the late Mr Joseph Richard ! McMillan, of Pukekohe West, in her GOtli year. Mrs McMillan accompanied her husband and family to Pukekohe from Taranaki about' 20 years ago. They settled on a farm on the Pukekohe-Palumahoe road, formerly owned by Mr .1. .1. Hart, where Mrs McMillan resided until failing health necessitated her removal to Auckland. She is survived by four sons and several grandchildren. The funeral took place at Pukekohe yesterday afternoon.
