Small Yarding and Low Values
PUKEKOHE STOCK SALE DAIRIES NdT IN DEMAND BEEF UP TO WESTFIELD RATES Small yardings and low values, especially for dairy cattle, were a feature of the stock sale conducted by Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd. at Pukekohe on Thursday. A very small yarding of dairy cattle came forward. Competition was not keen, ancl values were lower than have been experienced for some considerable time. Quotations are:— Dairy cattle: Best cows, close to profit, made from £6 to £6 10s; more backward, £1 10s to £3 10s; aged and unsound, £3 to £4 ss; good heifers close to profit, £6 to £7; more backward, £4 15s to £5 Iss; small and backward, £2 10s to £4.
Beef and boner cattle; These w|re yarded in less than average numbers. Competition, however, was keen throughout with values equal to Westfield rates. No extra heavy prime beef was penned. Heavy prime cows and heifers realised from £7 13s to £8 2s 6d; lighter, £6 17s Gd to £7 ss; light, £4 15s to £6 10s; other killable cows and heifers, £3 15s to £5 7s Gd; heavy boner cows, £4 to £5; other boner cows, £2 10s to £3 16s; store cows, £3 12s 6d to £5 2s; cows and calves, £2 15s to £4 17s Gd; boner bulls, £4 5s to £0; Jersey heifers, r w.b., £3 10s to £4 15s. Pigs: A full yarding of pigs came forward, but values were easier owing to the lack of freezing space.. Baconers and porkers sold at approximately the same rate as the previous sale — 53d to Gd per lb dressed weight. Heavy prime baconers made from £3 7s to £3 12s: medium, £3 2s to £3 6s; light baconers. £2 16s to £3 Is; heavy prime porkers, £2 9s to £2 16s; medium, £2 to £2 9s; light and £1 10s to £1 19s; choppers, 12s to £3 9s; sows and litters, £3 10s to 9gns.; service hoars, £1 10s. to 4gns Store pigs sold at late rates. Values were as follows: Large store slips', 19s to £1 8s; good weaners, 11s to 18s; others, 4s to 10s. j
