A NARROW ESCAPE.
CHILD RUNS ACROSS ROAD.
BUS PASSENGER INJURED. The presence of mind of a servicecar driver on the Great South road at Papakura on Friday afternoon saved a small boy from ■ a serious accident. A passenger in the bus had a remarkable escape from serious injury when lie was thrown forward through the windscreen. The bus was almost opposite the post office when the child ran across the road in front of it. The driver immediately applied the brakes, stopping short of the lad by inches, but the sudden braking unseated a passenger in the front seat of the, bus. Although the passenger struck his head against the windscreen and shattered the glass completely, he received only a few scratches. His felt hat was damaged by the flying glass. The bus, owned by Parker and Sons, operates on the Waiuku-Auckland run.
